Total Shareholder Return Calculations (TSR)

Overview

Our database is programmed to calculate a daily return for every stock on the market. Each day we also apply any dividends, or other distributions on the ex-date of the distribution. We also apply any relevant dilution factors on the ex-date of the event to cover for any stock splits, relevant demergers or other corporate actions. From this daily return calculation we can calculate the total shareholder return between any two points.

So what is TSR?

The annualised return to shareholders, including all stock price changes and reinvestment of dividends. It includes the effect of bonus issues and splits. This figure is calculated pre-tax.
